The Series That Never Ends Reading Challenge 2015
hosted by
This Reading Challenge is a "just for fun" type (for me, at least) and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to handle it.
The basics involve choosing one of those long running series that seem to go on and on such as J.D. Robb's In Death series... something like that. Seeing as how In Death is somewhere around 40 books long, I'm definitely NOT going to choose that one.
Of course, the exception is that, with a long series such as In Death, you are permitted to choose a sub-set within the series to read if you don't want to attempt to read all 40 books of that series for this year... which I'm not going to attempt at all.
Oh right, and the challenge specifies that the series must have some forms of romance elements or be a sub-genre of romance (i.e. Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense, Paranormal Romance, etc....).
Anyway...
Levels:
Level One – 5-9 books – Surviving the Book Tsunami
Level Two – 10-15 books – Removing the Thorn From My Side
Level Three – 15 books or more – Goddess of Reading the Never Ending Series
The minimum number of books you can read for this challenge is 5. If the series chosen has 5 or more books left for you to read, it is acceptable. But if the series is, say, 6 books long, such as Richard Castle's Nikki Heat series, and you've already read 2 of those books (like I will have done by the time 2015 rolls around) leaving 4 books left to read, then the series cannot be chosen for this challenge (unless, of course, one more book gets published soon).
I think I'm going to start with listing one specific series I plan on finishing this year and maybe also listing 3 or 4 other series I am interesting in trying to read all of for 2015.

There are several other long series I'm interested in reading, but they aren't "long-running series" and have already finished up... for the time being. In other words, it's been at least 3 or 4 years since the last book was published that I'm not sure if it's still ongoing. I decided not to add those to this list even though I'll be reading them in 2015 anyway.
I hesitated to choose the Bishop/SCU series for this challenge since it's already a part of another big Reading Challenge I have going (two others, actually). But then I figured that this would give me more incentive to finish this specific series as I've been telling myself I want to do. That's always a good idea.
I think what I've chosen here is enough to hold me over for the year.
Updated on 1/16/2015:
I feel like I really won't have much progress for a while since I've set up a reading list for finishing the Bishop/SCU series for another reading challenge I'm participating; I will be reading books from that series at a specific time during the year. And so with that in mind, I decided to go ahead and choose another series to include as participation in this reading challenge: Laura Griffin's Tracers series, which has enough books published to participate, and is still an ongoing series with a new book being released this year.
While Laura Griffin isn't exactly my favorite author, the subject and concept of the Tracers series intrigues me. Also, while sometimes Laura Griffin's subject content and a lot of her characters are not the most likable, I do like her writing style. So I chose the lowest number of books that need to be read for this series as a goal and I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I'll at least enjoy some of the books in the series.
Updated on 2/8/2015:
Yes. I added another series. This is going to be a neverending thing... because I always have a new series I want to read and that I believe I can read many books from over the course of the year.
But we'll see how this one turns out. Buchanan-Renard isn't exactly the best series and not the best written either. But there's something about it that I like. And also, I am extremely interested in getting to book #6, Shadow Dance for it's summary. So I may as well include this series into a challenge to make sure I get there. Right?
